Who is this course for?
The Kings International High School Programme offers immersion in the British education system plus English language development in an international school environment.
It is ideal for students who:
- would like a taster experience of studying within the British education system
- are serious about their academic achievement and may be considering completing their studies in the UK
- would like to develop their English alongside academic subject study

Entry level:
- Academic: Completed 8,9, 10 or 11 years of High School
- English: Age 14 and 15: IELTS 5.0 or Kings Test Equivalent, Age 16: IELTS 5.5 or Kings Test Equivalent

- 14 (Bournemouth), 15 (Brighton) and 16 (Oxford and London)
Length:
- 1, 2 or 3 terms
Lessons:
- Average of 20 – 25 hours per week, plus homework and private study

- More advanced proficiency in English, including academic English
- Successful completion of the International High School Programme can lead to formal qualifications and further academic study opportunities.
Course structure
At Kings, we understand that every student has different ambitions and abilities. For this reason, our approach is to create individual study plans, and a very personalised learning environment.
Course content
Ages 14-16
English, Maths, Information Technology,
Physical Education, + 3 – 4 other subjects
including Geography and one Science +
PHSE.
Ages 16 – 17
English, + 3 – 4 other subjects
Broad choice of subjects
There is a range of academic pathways from which students can choose a variety of subjects — depending on College location, course length, and aptitude. Each subject provides total immersion in academic classes, taught in English and delivered by subject specialists with expertise in teaching international students.
Physical Education is compulsory for all students under 16.

Academic English Preparation
The programme includes Academic English Preparation, tailored to the needs of each student depending on language level. This is designed to provide students with the intellectual and linguistic skills required for academic study.
Academic Enrichment Programme
The Academic Enrichment Programme forms an important part of the International High School Programme. It includes creative arts, physical education, and PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) to develop personal and social skills. As such, it gives students the opportunity to broaden their experience and interests, which can prove a great asset for future studies.
All students at Kings can take part in regular clubs and societies to learn new skills or develop existing hobbies and interests. There are a range of creative clubs, sports and exercise clubs, as well as clubs which cover more academic subjects, and the Student Council.
Other popular events during the academic year include the May Ball, drama productions; seasonal and international celebrations; university fairs, visits and guest lectures.

In addition to activities during the week, weekend and full-day trips are available. Sample trips include:
- 2-night Paris Excursion: guided tour of Paris and river cruise on the Seine
- 2-night Amsterdam Excursion: guided tour of Amsterdam with visit to Ann Frank Museum
- 2-night Edinburgh Excursion: guided tour of Edinburgh and Castle tour around the highlands
Guardianship
Education Guardians are not mandatory at Kings, however if we consider one to be necessary for any of our students then an appointment of an education guardian will be a condition of their place to study with us. A nominated guardian may be required to comply with UKVI rules.
